Annaliza Tan-Cimafranca
Director of Bangko Sentral ng PilipinasAnna has over 20 years of professional experience in the areas of banking supervision and regulation, internal audit, corporate governance, risk management, and compliance system. Currently, she is a Director in the Internal Audit Office (IAO) of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), in charge of leading teams in the review of governance and risk management practices and control processes .
Prior to joining IAO, she spent 19 years in the BSP’s Financial Supervision Sector (FSS) where she gained extensive exposures in the areas of supervision and regulation having served as Director and Head of several onsite and offsite supervision departments in charge of overseeing around 500 domestic banks and branches of foreign banks. She also has expertise in the areas of trust operations, asset and investment management, treasury operations, and capital markets activities given her stint as former Head of FSS’ Trust Specialist and Capital Market Specialist Supervision Groups. Likewise, Anna has considerable experience in handling licensing work particularly on mergers and acquisitions of financial institutions, bank and branch establishments, trust and derivatives products, among others.
Anna is a passionate teacher and an advocate of a life-long learning. She has been actively involved in developing leadership and other training programs in her areas of expertise, both internal to the BSP and in coordination with industry associations. She also serves as resource speaker in various in-house and external trainings/seminars/workshops and is considered a subject matter expert on topics such as risk-based supervision, risk management, capital markets, foreign exchange, derivatives and other financial instruments, corporate governance, internal control and compliance system and Basel capital adequacy framework. She is also a Financial Risk Manager conferred by the Global Association of Risk Professionals and a Certified Internal Auditor by the Institute of Internal Auditors. She is also a strong advocate of good governance and a graduate member and teaching faculty of Institute of Corporate Directors.
Last June, she completed an intensive training on professional coaching accredited by the International Coaching Federation, where she earned her Professional Coach designation. Fairly recently, Anna has started her PhD Journey to pursue her first love to study the field of Psychology, in the context of Leadership Studies and Organization Development. Anna believes she has found her life purpose by being an instrument in helping others in discovering their gifts and optimizing their personal and professional potential.
Outside of work, Anna is a mom to 3 wonderful kids - ETHAN, AUDREY and LIAM, whom she named after Hollywood celebrities. She is also a Starbucks Mug collector with over 400 city mugs to date (and counting). Coincidentally and just a little trivia, she first met her husband, DAN, in Starbucks Valero Branch in Makati.
