In the Global Internal Audit Body of Knowledge (CBOK) conducted in 2015, it was noted that one human resources-related maturity indicator for internal audit departments is the existence of a structured and documented training programs for internal auditors. The said study indicated that only a global average of 47% of the CAEs indicated that their training programs is structured and documented while majority is either not developed or developed only on an adhoc basis.


Aside from the degree of structure and documentation, the study likewise noted the importance on the content of the training programs needed in order to enhance audit competency. The said study also emphasized that less than one-third of the respondents provide training to develop critical thinking (30%).


Objectives:

This seminar is designed to address the one of the action items identified in the CBOK study, which is – in making sure that the staff is able to follow training outside the normal internal audit field to further develop skills in critical thinking.


Specifically, this learning session aims to have a general understanding on critical thinking and use the theories and concepts obtained for practical use in conducting value-added assurance and consulting services.
